A year on from the ousting of Assad

Damascus, Syria — “Hold your head high, you’re a free Syrian.” The refrain of this Arabic song—now widely embraced as the unofficial anthem of a new Syria—echoes throughout Damascus. It blares from market loudspeakers, rings out during celebrations in the central square, and is even sung by the man offering traditional coffee to new arrivals at the airport. For decades, many Syrians lived with lowered gazes under the authoritarian rule of the Al-Assad family. The regime maintained an expansive surveillance system in which the feared Mukhabarat , the intelligence network, kept the population in check. Remaining silent was often the safest choice—until the Arab Spring ignited an uprising, and Assad’s fierce response plunged the nation into a ten-year civil war. Apple Music Replay 2025 Rolls Out With New Listening Stats and Global Charts

December 2025 — Apple Music has officially released Apple Music Replay 2025, giving subscribers a full breakdown of their year in music with expanded analytics, a redesigned visual experience, and new listening categories that reflect how users discovered and revisited music throughout the year.

The annual recap, which began rolling out to users this week, highlights each listener’s most-streamed songs, artists, albums, genres, and total minutes listened. This year’s update builds on the company’s push to make Replay a more dynamic and social feature, rivaling Spotify Wrapped with deeper insights and a smoother in-app experience.

A More Seamless, In-App Experience

With iOS 26, Apple Music Replay is now fully native inside the Apple Music app, eliminating the web-based interface previously required for the visual recap. Users can access it directly from the Home tab, where Apple has added a “Replay: Your Top Music” section that opens an interactive highlight reel.

The new design uses full-screen animations, personalized transitions, and shareable cards optimized for social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and X.

New Metrics Added for 2025

Apple expanded Replay’s analytics this year, introducing three new categories designed to better capture how users interact with music in 2025:

  • Discovery: Tracks and artists users listened to for the first time.

  • Loyalty: Artists and genres that remained consistent favorites over the long term.

  • Comebacks: Musicians' listeners stopped playing for a while and then returned to.

These insights join the platform’s existing data points, including minutes listened, number of different artists streamed, and personalized top-10 lists.

Global Rankings Reveal 2025’s Most-Played Songs

In addition to individual stats, Apple released its annual global music charts. According to Apple Music, the No. 1 most-streamed song worldwide in 2025 is:

“APT.” — ROSÉ & Bruno Mars

The track dominated international streaming throughout the year, leading Apple Music’s “Top Songs of 2025” list.

Other songs rounding out the top rankings include:

  • “Luther” — Kendrick Lamar & SZA

  • “Die With a Smile” — Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars

  • “Not Like Us” — Kendrick Lamar

  • “Birds of a Feather” — Billie Eilish

The list reflects listeners’ growing preference for cross-genre collaborations and emotionally driven pop releases.

How to Access Your Replay 2025

Apple Music subscribers can view their personalized recap by:

  1. Opening the Apple Music app

  2. Navigating to the Home tab

  3. Scrolling to Replay: Your Top Music

  4. Tapping Go Back in Time to load the full 2025 highlight reel

Replay is also available on the web at replay.music.apple.com for users on Android or desktop devices.

A Stronger Push Into Social Music Culture

Apple has steadily enhanced Replay over the past few years, positioning it as a centerpiece of Apple Music’s identity and a major competitor to Spotify’s Wrapped. With 2025’s native integration, improved visuals, and new listening categories, Replay has become one of the most interactive and shareable year-end features Apple has released to date.

As users begin posting their stats across social platforms, Replay 2025 is expected to generate another wave of online conversation around music trends, listening habits, and the standout tracks that shaped the year.
